GROUP WORK : Random Words

Before our group start off planning on the video that we suppose to be making, we first come out with a few random and totally crazy sketch using the Random Word method. This was used in order to avoid common presentation, stereotypes & more.

GROUP WORK : Mind Map

Our group start off by list down on everything that is Creative Multimedia.

We then focus to a more specific subject as Mr.Mustafa recommended, Video Games.

GROUP WORK : Essay

First off, what is entertainment? It’s an activity that is diverting and that holds the attention. Entertainment is of any doings that provides people to amuse themselves in their leisure time. Next, what is multimedia? Multimedia literally means multiple media used, where text, visuals and sounds are combined together. So then, what is the relationship between entertainment and multimedia?
With the combination of these two, multimedia entertainment applications aims at engaging them with superb experiences such as reading books, listening to music, enjoying videos and playing games. With the existence of the Internet, the network communications have been boosted up in a way that is not available elsewhere. This has improved the possibility to interact with real-time applications. There are different kinds of entertainment. First of all, there are different kinds of music genres to entertain different people seeing that all of us have different taste on music. Like music, movies also have different categories to satisfy people with different preferences. As for games, there are other kinds; arcade games, console, handheld, online, board games and a lot more.
There are a lot of gamers in this world. Be it those who play console games, or those who enjoy going to the arcade, or those who take pleasure in playing traditional board games with their family. The definition of game is well, basically a contest that has rules to determine a winner, or where you need to reach a particular set of scores to win, or for you to play and waste your time while having fun. The question now is, how does it influence us? There are a lot of cases where gamers would try and attempt suicide if they lost playing a game, or get bankrupt by buying too many virtual items for their character in games, especially those who are playing online games such as World of Warcraft or Ragnarok Online.
The games we play and enjoy are somehow brainwashing us. Brainwashing is the application of coercive techniques to change the values and beliefs, perceptions and judgments, and subsequent mindsets and behaviors of one or more people (Wikipedia). For example, once you sit in front of your computer for a game of, let’s say, Left4Dead2, you’d be playing that for hours with your friends. After you finished a campaign, you would want to play more and more. After you stop playing, you would get addicted with the concept of the game and would discuss about it with your friends the next time you see them. You have this feeling that you can’t wait for the next time you would play with your friends, or even play by yourself if it’s too hard to resist.
People who easily get influences are teenagers. They are the ones who have a lot of time on their hand and they would give in easily to peer pressure. Once a new game comes out, they are guaranteed to be playing it the next few days after the release. They would spend their time that was supposed to be for studying to play games. Users would get obsessed with the game and if they could, they would not want to stop. They would stay up all night to play the game and would end up sleeping during school. Not only does it affect their sleeping hours, it also affects their education as they used up all their time for revision to enjoy playing games.
Why are they so obsessed with it? First of all, it’s probably because it is entertaining them. They would prefer to play games than to study biology and whatnots. Secondly, it’s because of the multimedia used, how it has improved throughout the years. The graphics nowadays are at Blu-Ray level, mostly everything now is in High Definition. Who would want to miss that? Those gamers who would spend countless hours playing games is because they were bored and have nothing better to do. Not only that, these gamers would have a certain “value” implanted in them. Something that would make them believe in something, or change their interpretation on a certain topic. Hence they would get brainwashed.
To conclude, brainwashing is crawling towards you via entertainment. Not only through games, but through other needs of entertainment such as music, films, movies, videos and etc. It may be entertaining and making you feel jolly good, but it has effects that are slowly taking over. Entertainment will also slowly change your point of view on different issues. There are those who would try and follow a stunt they see on television. It may be entertaining to watch, but is harmful to do so in reality. Entertainment may be fun and enjoyable, but it is also dangerous you do not know how to limit yourself. So, are you ready to be brainwashed further through entertainment?

Totally Random Words

Previously, I posted a post about juxtaposition, now i'm going to explain a little bit about random words. Random word is applying a matter (random word) to solve a problem.

For example I have here is to giving a sign warning to give sense of danger, scary with a random word of kitten. Before I start, i need to list down characteristic, behaviour, simply what my knowledge about the random word (in this case, kitten).

So here what i list down,
if you can't read from the image (obviously you do not), here what it said...
- cute
- stalking
- playful
- always ask for food
- snuggle

So i chose "always ask for food" as element, now i need to use this, stay with it & solve the problem with this. So here is the result...

ALWAYS ASK FOR FOOD
- replacing food with "danger ; death"
- explaining the area keep claiming for blood ; deaths.

As you may notice, the result have nothing to do with kitten (random word). That is because i use the characteristic of the random word...

What we can conclude here, that juxtaposition & random word are totally different to one another, juxtaposition simply combine 2 matters into 1 (if this excersice done with juxtaposition, the result would be something like CAT MONSTER ; combination of kitten & scary).

Create a Passage to describe a concept, PHEW!

In the same lecture with juxtaposition 2, we also done another exercise of creating a writing to describe a concept. We managed to done 1 exercise for this, and the concept is LOVE and we comparing love the CHILI.
I love you like a chili. Though the taste of it might burn & too spicy, but it dint matter for me, cause of your existence is like a chili in a nasi lemak for me (a must existence).

Kinda sappy, but yeah, that is my first start for this exercise. We are then need to compared few more matters to a few more concepts and here it is what i have done.

HAPPINESS
Clock is like the clocks. Sometime it goes up and sometimes it goes down and when it is up, it'll pass very fast (midnight pass to morning ; resting time) & when it's down, it'll go very long (working hour)

LIFE
Life is like an oil lamp. You will never know when it'll goes off. No matter how hard you try to keep it lid, it'll goes off anyway either it runs out of oil (too old) or a strong wind blow it away (illness)

WOMAN
Woman is like mortar & pestle. They may be noisy and hard at some point, but they also the very element that spice up our food (life) and their work (compared mortar & pestle to blender) is incomparable to any hand works (feminence touch).

Tadaaa! JUXTAPOSITION 2!!

This is the overall view of my sketch regarding the exercise conducted by Mr. Radzi Bedu on Juxtaposition lecturer. Since I already posted a post here regarding juxtaposition, i'll be calling this post juxtaposition 2.

Here is the exercise works, we listed total of 20 different item, each written with a number for every side of the items, we are then instructed to list 3 different number between 00-99. So my numbers are 50, 31, 88. So, when merged these number, i receive these weird combination below

(50) FIRE + HEAD
(31) ICE + WATER
(88) OIL + WOOD

We are then need to create a sentence from this combination, so here is the sentence.

(50) There is a fire on top of my head
(31) When ice melt, it turns into water
(88) The oil spilled onto the wood

Next, we need to visualize the sentence we created & then COMBINE the words into a different object (example FIRE+HEAD = FIREHEAD)

here it is, SENTENCE VISUALIZATION on the left, COMBINATION on the right.

here it is, SENTENCE VISUALIZATION on the left, COMBINATION on the right.

here it is, SENTENCE VISUALIZATION on the left, COMBINATION on the right.

To conclude, I say this exercise is really cool and it really help me in my next project's brainstorming session for example my Design class in FA, we need to create our very own character. My idea is to create a monster, but somehow i cannot help to come out the idea of giant reptile, so i used this method & it came out great so far, and hope this'll be helpful & useful to the rest of the students & also to the art peoples.

Here is the sneak peek of the character design i mentioned... Going to continue with the method to do the detailing maybe for the hand & the skin color/textures.

Mortar & Pestle

Based on Mr.Radzi Bedu request to the class, we are instructed to do various ideas of alternative function of mortar & pestle for the year 20010. He had done a relative mind map about it and from those elements given (listed), we need to take those element (in number of 5) to came out an idea for the function.

My choice are NOISE, POWER, SUN, BEAUTIFUL & WOOD. Below is the overall view of my whole sketches of ideas.

NOISE, a band in the name of Mortallica's drummer use mortar & pestle as his equipment to make more noise more than anything that have been done before.

SUN, the sun is getting hotter, people use mortar & pestle as sunglass & to rub themselve with sunscreen.

POWER, heroes all over the world uses mortar & pestle as a defensive mechanism & as a baton to fight against the dangerous threat that is crazy bulls.

BEAUTIFUL, to achieve perfection in beauty, women are taking it to the max in 20010 by using mortar & pestle to steam their hair (rebonding) & to rub those wrinkles off their face. No pain no gain

WOOD, woods are running out in 20010, people use mortar & pestle to replace that subject. For example in architecture section.

What i am trying to achieve here to be innovative, simply improving a daily subject (mortar & pestle) to solve many problem which may be the future (also the presence) major crisis. These ideas may be insane & inhuman, and also those ideas that once were taken as a witchcraft & scams like animated pictures & so on. People need to open their mind wider these days because anything is possible now, with all those high-tech gadjet & our unbordered mind thinkers.

Hail Hitler!

Alright! Assalamualaikum & Good day to ya'll...

For my entry of a public figure, i was instructed to either draw or sketch out a public figure and guess who did i chose? (u probably read the title by now) yes! Adolf Hitler! I am not supporting his cause of mass murdering, but i DO respect his ability to influence many people to join him. That is one hard thing to do & gain, but he did achieve that. To those of you who don't have any idea who is Hitler, here is a brief on him from Wikipedia

Adolf Hitler (German pronunciation: [ˈadɔlf ˈhɪtlɐ]; 20 April 1889 – 30 April 1945) was an Austrian-born German politician and the leader of theNational Socialist German Workers Party (German: Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, abbreviated NSDAP), commonly known as the Nazi Party. He was Chancellor of Germany from 1933 to 1945 and, after 1934, also head of state as Führer und Reichskanzler, ruling the country as an absolute dictator of Germany.

A decorated veteran of World War I, Hitler joined the precursor of the Nazi Party (DAP) in 1919 and became leader of NSDAP in 1921. He attempted a failed coup called the Beer Hall Putsch in Munich in 1923, for which he was imprisoned. Following his imprisonment, in which he wrote his book, Mein Kampf, he gained support by promoting German nationalism, anti-semitism, anti-capitalism, and anti-communismwith charismatic oratory and propaganda. He was appointed chancellor in 1933, and quickly transformed the Weimar Republic into the Third Reich, a single-party dictatorship based on the totalitarian and autocratic ideals of national socialism.

Hitler ultimately wanted to establish a New Order of absolute Nazi German hegemony in Europe. To achieve this, he pursued a foreign policy with the declared goal of seizing Lebensraum ("living space") for the Aryan people; directing the resources of the state towards this goal. This included the rearmament of Germany, which culminated in 1939 when the Wehrmacht invaded Poland. In response, the United Kingdom and France declared war against Germany, leading to the outbreak of World War II in Europe.[2]

Here is him in a vector style drawing i have done

big word, JUXTAPOSITION

Assalamualaikum & Hey,

alright! for those who din't get the meaning of this big word, it is simply applied almost as the same meaning of contrast. It is also applied when two object or subject put side by side (in word/saying it, comparing to one another) and both of these object are simply apposite to one other.

Example (with picture!)

This is the first juxtaposition that pop up in my mind when the word was spoken. Angels & demons, this is a common & most familiar clear contrast among ourself. So how juxtaposition helps creative mind work?

In this "dark day" (lol) there are so many needs of media, this include web designing, storyline development, movies, game creation, and many more. Most of these items developer tend to forget the spice that trigger audience's needs. Thats where juxtaposition came in, it helps the audience to immediately recognize a certain character (hero/villian), situation (order/chaos) and many more that helps the author to make their work lesser in aspect of describing and explaining.

Juxtaposition may be ignored and may be misunderstood or completely forgotten by some people but this is one of the main root of success for a certain project, it provide easy comparison, recognition and understanding.

Mind Maps : It Came From The Brain!

Assalamualaikum,

As promised, I will briefly discuss about mind map. To start, we will have the definition of mind map from our most trusty source, Wikipedia!

"A mind map is a diagram used to represent words, ideas, tasks, or other items linked to and arranged around a central key word or idea. Mind maps are used to generate, visualize, structure, and classify ideas, and as an aid in study, organization, problem solving, decision making, and writing"

Yes, mind map act as a list to visualize, classify in order for us gain an advantage to understand or to ease our understanding on a certain subject matter which will be highlighted (in the middle of the plain, big in size & probably in capital letters). Logical mindmap is basically a mind map that is relate information logically. It usually leads to stereotypes (as I mentioned in the previous post) which is totally useless to solve a serious problem because stereotypes leads to typical idea and typical ideas are usually are the first thought of solving the problem. Thus, it is not wise to do so in serious problem which requires a far more vast mind thinking.

To conclude, here is my little mind map about myself, Enjoy! Cheers!

Stereotypes!

I was introduced to stereotypes last few weeks & that is our little topic for this entry, stereotypes!
Basically we all know, a stereotype is usually focus on a person or a group of people, to generalize their behaviour, lifestyle, attitudes and looks. Stereotype typically consider to be generally negative impression of the target but it not USUALLY ALL negative, for example a compassionate, loving stereotype mother that have been portrait many many times as long as I can ever remember...

Aside from that, stereotype can be also refered to many things. For example, events & solutions. This can be easily visualise, portray in a logical mind map which we will discuss in the next entry.

Before we depart, observe these few examples of logical mind map for our little knowledge & what to come in the next post

Creativity, Innovative & Inventive

As we previously discussed, every human was born with a sense of creativity. On he/she develop/improve that creativity to better or worse, it is up to him/her. Through great creativity and different way of thinking, a new kind of idea came out, that idea is innovative.

"Innovation is a change in the thought process for doing something or "new stuff that is made useful". It may refer to an incremental emergent or radical and revolutionary changes in thinking, products, processes, or organizations."
information taken from wikipedia.

Invention also came from great way of creative thinking. However, invention required great knowledge for it creates new creation. Invention usually relate with scientific and technical.

Creativity, Innovative & Inventive is needed for us human to success and excel in our daily life.

Creativity. Oh! Defining it, right!

To start, I would like to take a quote on defining creativity...

"Creativity is the process of bringing something new into being"
by Rollo May

Creativity is an ability to execute a certain idea (innovative) from imaginary to the real real. Innovative here is doing something new from the old method, there is no "new" way of thinking to be honest because everything is being done or at least suggested. Innovative is an improvement from the old way to something new, better.

Creativity can inspire creative art and creative thinking. By being creative in art, one can attract great attend with either visually or the way the message being presented or what messages are being presented.

Creative thinking is the "thing" that accelerate us human being. Through creative thinking, lifestyle can be improved and ease. This is because creative thinking trigger solutions to many kind of problems. This is because creative thinker usually think unusually compared to common folks and sometime to misjudge to be not saint or crazy. This is because they will think too advance in their time of period, but proved to be one of the milestones for mankind in the future.

This an example of illustration done by common people based on a novel titled "The Call Of Cthulu" by H.P. Lovecraft in 1926. His "creation" of the monster cthulu are so inspiring and creative, that it keep being tribute till this very day (it's been about 84years).

Expectation, oh expectation

As i walk into class, i noticed it's quite the same as MLA & MLC (judging as it is the same class room with these class). As the classroom getting crowded, the lecturers are revealed : Mr.Radzi Bedu, Mr.Yap Sau Bin & Mr.Mustafar.... i feel like wow, this is like the top hits of "studies" in FCM (MLA, MLC). Wish i could draw them in a drawing like 3 titans but i'm a bit accupied wif tons of work... maybe later...

As the name suggested, this game is going to study of creativity, my expectation is it is going to be a class where all the hardcore lecturing going to be but somehow it'll sharpen my knowldge & sensitivity in creative thinking like they (MLC, MLA) did before i last year study.

Also, i would like to learn how the previous "great" people stands out of the crowd by being creative and different as i hope i also will be one of the listed to be "great"

That is all for now from me... thank you & good luck facing sleeping students, my lecturers.
